Which gen to go for?

I'll probably get another Forester, but I'm in a dilemma. Should I go for the last year of the previous gen, so 2024, or get the first year of the current gen, 2025? A mechanic once told me to never get the first gen year because that's the one that has the most ironing out. Is this true or it's just old folks tales?

That "never buy the first model year" advice is outdated fearmongering. Automakers today rely on digital testing and simulations far beyond what was possible decades ago, waiting a year is more paranoia than prudence, especially with brands like Subaru that rarely swing big with redesigns

@forestbeastmode25 I agree with you. The 2024 gives peace of mind if you're not into taking chances. You know exactly what you're getting. @Azkabaan That's fair, but Subaru still had issues with first-year Outbacks in the past. Not always a disaster, but I wouldn't call it paranoia either. So yeah @forestbeastmode25 there's some truth to it, but I guess to each their own still.
