thermo control valve question

Checking with the pros here about warranty on our 2021 Forester. It's just over 3 years old but has around 75,000 km on it. The basic warranty is done, but we're still within that major component coverage. We recently had an issue and the dealer said it is the thermo control valve and we're looking at $1500 CAD to get it fixed! Goodness!

So my question is the thermo control valve. is it included in major component warranty? if so, since we're not having much luck w the dealer, should we just go straight to Subaru Canada? thanks!

Yep, your 2021 Forester's thermo control valve is covered by an extended warranty for 15 years or up to 150,000 miles. If the dealer isn't being helpful, just reach out to Subaru Canada directly. And if you've already paid for it, you can ask for a refund

Yeah, I'd definitely push back on this, the thermo control valve is tied directly to engine cooling, so it should be covered under the powertrain or major component warranty, if you're under the km limit and dealers sometimes pass it off

Why wouldn't the thermo control valve be covered under the major component warranty if it's part of the engine's cooling system?
