Subaru hatch release button placement anyone else find it frustrating?

I drive a 2020 Forester Sport, and my sibling has a 2019 Crosstrek. Both cars come with keyless entry and have those rear hatch openers, but Subaru really mixed things up with where they put the hatch release buttons.

I'm usually the one loading all our gear, so it's a hassle to have to remember which side each button is on every single time. To make matters worse, the buttons in the Crosstrek are located on the lower door panel and don't have any lights, making them hard to find when it's dark. On the other hand, the Forester's buttons are by the driver's seat but have a strange shape.

I get that Subaru has its unique style, but these little design differences can be super inconvenient. Has anyone else noticed this, or do you have any tips for avoiding the struggle?

Subaru hatch button locations can be confusing hak!, especially switching between models, no easy fix I've seen except muscle memory or maybe adding a small tactile sticker or glow in the dark marker to the buttons so you can find them in the dark or maybe someone else here has a brighter idea

I'd just get used to each spot during the day or slap a little glow sticker on the Crosstrek button. Youre definitely not the only one who's annoyed

Subaru's inconsistent button placements feel less like quirky design and more like lazy engineering. For a brand that prides itself on practicality, not standardizing something as basic as hatch access across models is just bad UX and borderline disrespectful to loyal drivers juggling gear in the dark.
